Athens is a sprawling city with several distinct neighborhoods, each offering unique experiences for visitors.

    1. Psyri
       - Vibe: Lively, full of mezedopoleia (taverns with small, shared plates) and vibrant nightlife.
       - Pros: Pedestrian-friendly, affordable hotels with Acropolis views, great for young people and nightlife enthusiasts.
       - Cons: Can be loud on weekends, a bit farther from the Acropolis (20-minute walk).

    2. Monastiraki:
       - Vibe: Bustling, known for its flea markets and rooftop bars with Acropolis views.
       - Pros: Ideal for shopping and sightseeing, numerous archaeological sites nearby.
       - Cons: High pickpocket risk, presence of homeless people at night.

    3. City Center:
       - Vibe: Central, maze-like pedestrian alleys with a variety of street food.
       - Pros: Home to famous street foods like souvlaki and diverse international cuisine.
       - Cons: More expensive, limited hotels with Acropolis views.

    4. Syntagma:
       - Vibe: Modern, upscale shopping district.
       - Pros: High-end hotels, great for shopping on Ermou Street.
       - Cons: Expensive hotels, less charming with a more metropolitan feel.

    5. Plaka:
       - Vibe: Quintessentially charming and touristy, located at the base of Acropolis Hill.
       - Pros: Iconic cafes and restaurants on scenic stairs, authentic older buildings.
       - Cons: Very touristy, expensive, and the Acropolis views are less spectacular.

    6. Makrygianni:
       - Vibe: Proximity-focused, right next to the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum.
       - Pros: Best Acropolis views, close to key attractions, near Philopappou Hill.
       - Cons: Limited food and nightlife options, but close enough to walk to Monastiraki and Psyri.

    7. Thiseio:
       - Vibe: Quiet and serene, ideal for peaceful walks.
       - Pros: Long pedestrian alleys, great for souvenir shopping, close to Philopappou Hill.
       - Cons: Limited restaurants and nightlife, but close to lively Psyri.

    8. Omonia:
       - Vibe: Less desirable due to the presence of homeless and drug-addicted individuals.
       - Advice: Avoid staying in this area despite the cheap hotels.

    9. Athens Riviera:
       - Vibe: Coastal, ideal if you're spending a whole week in Athens.
       - Pros: Beaches for relaxation if not visiting other islands.
       - Advice: Not recommended if planning to visit islands with better beaches.
